FAQ

Good questions to ask.

Everything you need to know about how a lab works, who it’s for, and what happens when you sign up.

About the labs

What is a PastorLabs lab?

A six-week cohort for pastors. Eight pastors meet on three live Zoom calls, two weeks apart, and work on one real part of their ministry, like preaching or discipleship. Between calls, you put the work into practice in your own church.

Is this a course?

No. There are no videos to watch or modules to finish. You bring your real work, like a sermon you’re preaching or a pathway you’re building, and we work on it together.

Who leads the labs?

Josh Martin. Josh has been a pastor for twenty years: fifteen planting and leading Resonate Church in Pullman, Washington, and the last five as Lead Pastor of Grace Church San Diego. More about Josh.

Time and format

How long is each call?

About 90 minutes. Calls are on Zoom, Thursdays at 2pm Pacific. If that time doesn’t work for you, join the waitlist and tell us what would.

How much time will it take between calls?

Plan on an hour or two a week. Most of it is work you’re already doing, like preparing a sermon, done a better way.

What if I miss a call?

Plan to be on all three. Calls aren’t recorded, so everyone can speak honestly. If something comes up, Josh will catch you up before the next call.

What happens after the six weeks?

Every lab includes a follow-up check-in a few weeks after the last call, so you can see what’s changed and keep getting better.

Is this for me?

Who is a lab for?

Pastors of ordinary churches of any size: lead pastors, associate pastors, church planters, and anyone who preaches or leads regularly. The labs are rooted in Jesus and His church, and they aren’t tied to one denomination.

Can I join with someone from my staff?

Yes. Each person takes their own seat. If you’d like to work on something as a whole team, a Custom Lab may be a better fit.

What if my challenge doesn’t fit one of the labs?

That’s what Custom Labs are for. A Custom Lab is private and built around the challenge you’re facing, and you can bring your team. It starts with a short application.

Signing up

How much does it cost?

Our first cohorts are free while we test the format and listen to feedback. Pricing will be posted before future cohorts open.

How big are the groups?

Eight pastors per lab, so everyone gets time on every call.

What happens after I sign up?

You’ll get a personal note from Josh with dates, the Zoom link, and how to prepare for the first call.

Still have a question?

Send Josh a note. He reads every one.
